Mr. McElhany was born Jan 18, 1933, in rural Ottawa county Oklahoma, to Joe McElhany and Letha Hollis McElhany. He had lived in Joplin for the past four years, moving there from rural Miami. Mr. McElhany was a retired Oklahoma State Highway Patrolman, having served with the patrol for 22? years. He had also been employed with B. F. Goodrich Tire and Rubber Company and had been a rancher in Ottawa county for several years. He was united in marriage to Betty June Martin, Jun 20, 1952, in Commerce Oklahoma. She survives.
