spouse Hazel Lee Simpson Stanley, died Jan 1994, after 65 years of marriage. They were married Nov 24,
1928. Mr. Stanley was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister and a daughter-in-law. Mr.
Stanley had attended school in Joplin and Lincolnville Oklahoma, and had lived in the Quapaw area since
1917. He worked in the lead and zinc mines in the Picher Oklahoma area, including the Dines Mining
Company for several years before going into business for the Texaco Service Station and later the Phillips 66
Service Station, both in Quapaw. He was given the honor of being the Grand Marshall of the Quapaw
Haydays' Parade in 1997. He is survived by two sons, Eugene Stanley and his wife, Helen Stanley,
Commerce Oklahoma, and Boyce Stanley, Quapaw; one daughter, Claudine Thomasson and her husband,
Loyde Thomasson, rural Quapaw; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter.
The funeral service will be at 2 pm Wednesday, at the First Baptist church of Quapaw. The Rev. Dale
Thorne and the Rev. Harold Neal will officiate. Burial will be in the Ottawa Indian cemetery, south of
Quapaw. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7 pm tonight at the
Paul Thomas funeral home of Picher. There is a photo of Mr. Stanley.
